Free LEGAL AID provided with the help from Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC)

During 2003 as many as 116 legal services of jurist were given free of charge thanking to the assistance of NRC. The nature of requests and legal assistance given were of different kinds. The majority of the beneficiaries was approaching us for assistance in obtaining necessary documents in dislocated offices, as many as 48 in total. As many as 25 beneficiaries approached us for social and humanitarian assistance. As many as 21 beneficiaries came with work related- , tenancy-and property related requests for assistance while 19 beneficiaries came with requests related to regulating the amount of pension and period of the pension contribution.

Since October 2003 “Sveti Spas”Association became the part of the legal network for providing of free of charge legal services whose donor was International Orthodox Charity Organisation (IOCC) and Bureau for Population, Refuges and Migration of Government of USA (BPRM). Besides the office in Belgrade (25 Makedonska Street) in the project was included newly opened office in Brezovica and since January 2004 the office in Belgrade.

The network is organising regular consultations and seminars aimed at educating and uniform approach to the solving of problems of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees. It is creating uniform data base of legal assistance given in which the data about kinds and nature of all services given are available in all the offices.
